A SeRP Hub allows data projects and programmes of work to sit as a self-contained research programme inside a host organisations Trusted Research Environment (TRE).
This means that the hosted TRE Hub will benefit from the security, infrastructure and governance of the host TRE without the operational and financial commitment of creating a separate TRE.
Researchers accessing the hub will also benefit from the robust technical foundations and software tooling of an established TRE for simplified cohort analysis.
These hosted TREs can maintain their identity without the design and build duplication enabling each to retain their unique web presence and hub specific utilities, whilst benefitting from the governance, data processing and data analysis pipelines that have already been developed by their respective host TRE.
Hubs hosted in SeRP TREs
Big Data for Complex Disease
(Host TRE: SAIL Databank) Big Data for Complex Disease (BCCD) is a Health Data Research UK (HDR UK) hub that will harness whole population, national linked health data to improve the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease, cancer, and other complex diseases
BrainWaves
(Host TRE: DPUK Data Portal) Collects and brings together adolescent and child mental health data for researcher access.
Cancer Data-Driven Detection
(Host TRE: SAIL Databank) The Cancer Data-Driven Detection (CD3) programme will harness population-scale data to predict cancer risk and enable earlier diagnosis and prevention.
COALESCE
(Host TRE: SAIL Databank). Provides access to multiple COVID-19 vaccination cohort study data combined with routinely collected health data which is governed by SAIL’s renowned privacy-by-design principles.
DATAMIND
(Host TRE: SAIL Databank). Covering the four UK nations, DATAMIND is transforming mental health research by providing a central, integrated data infrastructure with findable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable (FAIR) mental health datasets.
MND Accelerator
(Host TRE: DPUK Data Portal) Aims to provide funding to develop treatments for MND through a portfolio of experminetal medicine.
TBI-REPORTER
(Host TRE: DPUK Data Portal). Brings together Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) data and bio-samples to make them more accessible for researchers and scientists across a UK network of centres to support clinical trials of novel treatments.
A collaborative space
Collaborative spaces are designated areas inside a TRE or Hub which allow large collaborative projects to collect and access their own data for analysis. The collaborative space benefits from access to the software available under the TRE/Hub and all collaborators access the data in a central location ensuring all data management exercises are conducted in a safe and secure environement. At the end of the collaborative project the data used/gerneated is provided to the host TRE/Hub for onward sharing.
