The team behind the Phenotype Library are inviting you to take part in a short survey to help shape the future of phenotyping and phenomics, including the ongoing development of the HDR UK Phenotype Library.
Phenotype definitions are central to health data research, but we know that creating, finding, assessing and reusing them can be challenging. Your feedback is essential to ensure the Phenotype Library and wider infrastructure better meet the needs of the research community.
Health Data Research UK is working with the community to develop a community-agreed action plan for FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable) phenotype definitions. This survey is a key part of that process, helping us understand how the Library is used, what works well, and where improvements are needed.
The survey takes around 15 minutes and will inform future enhancements to the Phenotype Library, including functionality, metadata and overall usability.
Please complete the survey here: https://eu.surveymonkey.com/r/phenomics_community
Your input will directly inform the future direction of the Phenotype Library and help ensure it becomes a more effective, user-friendly resource for the community.
We would also appreciate it if you could share this survey with colleagues who use or contribute to phenotype definitions.
What is the Phenotype Library?
The HDR UK Phenotype Library is a comprehensive, open-access resource providing the research community with information, tools and phenotyping algorithms for UK electronic health records.
Electronic Phenotyping refers to the science of measuring health characteristics of individuals, such as diagnosis with a disease, within data. This is critical work to support high-quality research to improve patient health and well-being.
The phenotype library was based on SAIL Databank’s Concept Library tool and has been developed by a multi-institutional team from Birmingham, Dundee, King’s College London, Oxford, UCL and the Secure eResearch Platform (SeRP) at Swansea University, and funded by HDR UK.
The SeRP/SAIL team has also developed a security model enabling the Phenotype Library to be available within the SAIL Gateway secure data environment, so that researchers can access and immediately apply phenotype definitions to SAIL datasets, using the API as well as an R package.
